And then there were two.

Nippon vs Daehan Minguk - Nippon took absolutely no prisoners this match with a demolition effort. Daehan had an incredible tournament, taking out some absolute beasts on their way to the semi-finals, but alas the run has come to an end.

Rossiya vs Australia - This was the Group D rematch, with the undefeated team vs the top goal difference team in the group stages. This was always going to be a blockbuster, with history, strength and pride on the line, and the teams did not disappoint, taking it in to extra time before the deadlock could be broken with Australia going through 1-0 victors.

As the final 4, we have two teams from Group D, one from Group B and one from Group E. A great surprise given Group A really was the hell group.

Next week are the final matches.

In the Gold medal match it is NIPPON vs AUSTRALIA. For those with a bit of a memory, these two teams have met before in the Asian Cup, back in Asian Cup 5 where Australia knocked Nippon out in the quarterfinals, denying them the opportunity to take home some silverware. Nippon will be out to get revenge and prove that they were actually the second best team of Asian Cup 5, and just got a rough draw in the Finals. Australia will be out looking to go back to back with Asian Cup Championships.

In the Bronze medal match is ROSSIYA vs DAEHAN MINGUK. On paper this looks like it should be a walkover for the team from the north, but Daehan Minguk has proven they are not to be taken light heartedly, despite coming in to this tournament as the 18th seed. Both teams have only lost one match this tournament and Rossiya were actually the ones to knock out Daehan Minguk's qualification group ally Malaysia. Daehan Minguk will be wanting to avenge their ally, whereas Rossiya will be fiercely fighting to not let the tournament end in back to back losses.

Home teams for this week are NIPPON and ROOSIYA. Remember to invite in CUP mode

Congrats to Australia for winning the Asian cup! Even if your NT is not asian :P

Daehan Minguk did what we could against Russia but the difference of quality was too high. Anyway 4th position is amazing taking in count our level :)

Great game Nippon, was some great back and forward during that match, especially in the 2nd half.

Australia had the earlier injury to out #1 defender however I did have an order in to cover this thankfully.
Zillman had an absolute cracker of a game, especially as he only played one half scoring twice from 5 shots. The third was a corker or a shot from the corner of the box by my own midfielder Burke.

Shortly after the 3rd goal, it looked like things were going to go from bad to worse when Nippon's goalkeeper was injured, but instead, this fired up the Nippon players. Their substitute goalkeeper Hirai, finally getting his chance to prove himself, was a wall, and didn't let another goal in all game. Meanwhile, the strikers from Nippon decided to take matters in to their own hands with a beautiful cross from Uchiyama to Oniki to catch the Australian Keeper napping and scored, forcing an immediate GK change.

After this, no more goals were scored by either team, but there were plenty of quality shots taken and slick footwork.

The champions of the Asian Cup Season 6 this year are AUSTRALIA
Runners-up NIPPON
3rd place ROSSIYA
and coming in at a very respectable 4th, my team of the tournament, DAEHAN MINGUK

Thank you everyone for participating this season.
I look forward to running this again in 2 seasons time and already have some added ideas, including....a Mini Asian Cup

Congratulations, I played the strongest squad, I think I achieved the highest match score in my history, but even that wasn't enough to win gold, but I'm still happy :)

Even Australia had to lose one final to come back and get gold. It may be Nippons turn next year! They are definitely stronger than people give them credit for. Keep up the awesome work mate, and keep posting in the forums trying to get even some people talking and interested
