Did you get the game ( I assume its simcity societies) legally?
Anyway: It seems to be a common problem as there are a lot of posts saying this on the web. Some say you should turn of the autosave function.
Someone writes the following on a forum:
ok.. here's what i did and it's working just fine
unistall the game and then reinstall it
rename the crack before pasting
enter the game and imidiatelly turn off autosave
i've been playing since then just fine :D

I'm 100% sure I installed DirectX10 on my parents' computer with WindowsXP

Then you're wrong :) Nobody hacked DX10 to XP yet.
yeah and didnt he say its not hacked yet. as in its just not compatible with xp thats all... its not even about it being able to be hacked. only divx 9 is on xp atm
