I've stopped watching caps against Pens. Two reasons for this:
1. In every game I've seen between those two the refs have favoured Washington on most occasions (not all). I switched channels today and say a blatant high stick that the refs totally ignored and I went for a walk instead.
2. I can't stand Ovi. Brilliant player, but he's a dirty little a*sehole. I hope he can grow up soon.

Of course, no guestion that Ovechkin isn't the best player. He is! Crosby is also great, Malkin is great, Kovalchuk is great but Ovy is just better. He's just so good.
Switzerland-CAnada 2-3 shootouts.. That was close that Swiss didn't win. And Russia lost Slovakia 1-2 :O Really surprising results.
goal
damn canada, being up so late .. :S i hope other matches will be played at some normal time

lol i just know, that Mikes Knuble parents is from Latvia :D
damn, an even if Switzerland wins against Belarus, they would have to play USA again in Quarterfinals.
Hmm ... after watching Canada losing against USA and almost losing against Switzerland I think about if they have chosen the right players.
No doubt, all these players are brilliant, but do they fit together as a team? To me it looks more like a bunch of superstars without any team spirit!
Compared to the US team you see the difference. Best examples are Brown, Kesler or Drury. They don't have the biggest names but are extremely important for a team.
You need some players for the dirty work, at the moment it seems like no Canadian player is willing to do this.
Why didn't they add players like Sean Avery, Alex Burrows, Ethan Moreau or Antoine Vermette? Just because they're not everybodys darling? They do at least the dirty work, they can change momentum with the aggressive style of playing.
Anyway, we'll see if Canada wins Gold or not, but if they want to they really need to improve their game!
So far only the Hawks defense line (Keith and Seabrook) and the Sharks line (Thornton, Heatley, Marleau) had some impact.

Yeah, well they have players like Morrow, Richards, Toews. They do the dirty work. One game against USA don't prove anything ,cause Usa have also a great team. I didn't see the game against Switzerland but I think that Canada dominated the game but they just didn't score. And Swizerland plays so boring and defending game that the result wasn't so surprise. They just standing in their own blue line and don't attacking att all. That's not a hockey.
Very interesting game is coming, Russia-Canada. It was supposed to be a final game but now they already facing in quarterfinals. Let's see what happens.
But yeah, Canada's games are not gone quite as expected with those starplayers so they need to be better against Russia. If they win Germany first...

Guys, what do you think about this "tackle"? Was it foul in your opinion? I watched the game and I was surprised the ref didn`t blow his whistle. That was bit too harsh imo.
I agree with Morrow. Richards and Toews are able to do those work aswell, but they're not able to heat the emotional level up with "dirty" plays imo.

Surely they dominated, but they were not able to create many very good scoring opportunities. And I think the Swiss players even made the bigger hits than the Candadians!
And Swizerland plays so boring and defending game that the result wasn't so surprise.
Hmm ... a team of NHL superstars didn't beat (in regular time) a team with - apart from Hiller and Streit - doesn't have any outstanding players, I'd say it's a huge sensation! ;-)
So far to me it seems like Canada played without aggressivity, without inspiration. They might win against Germany, even if they play as bad as so far, but they'll surely lose against Russia if they don't change their way of playing!
I still hope they do, I'd like to see them winning against the Russians! :-)
