Subject: internet speed test
It does seem unusual that a relatively poor country like Romania would have such fast internet. They say boosting internet speeds will be a boost for the economy, but on this evidence.. :/
in romania a low speed internet is not attractive when you have to download 15 GB of games, movies, applications, all pirated. some people are too poor to buy them ... so we have high speed internet, optical fiber

i worked once at RDS, the biggest provider in our country...they massivly invest in infrastructure so they can take over the whole market
indeed. cheap service so nooone else can compete and you have permanent longterm customers. makes sense.
ireland has fiber only in the main cities. 100Mb connection there. slowly rolled out.
im on 8Mb and its fine. 15 mins to watch a movie is grand, i can stream anything. play xbox live etc.. faster connection is only for bigger downloads, and those 100Mb connections have a 250 or 500Gb dl limit.
if you have it running for 24hrs at full throttle you use it 100% in 1 day :P

In Poland you have to pay ~20€ for 20/25mb internet :)
We have quite a similar situation with yours..about the downloading... That's why we also have cheap internet. roughly 10$ for 100mb(optical fiber) with no limit

in romania is not romanian capital ... are big american, european companies
to make a parallel,it is like TV rights to an important event .... for small, poor countries .... cheaper

yeah and there was lots of complaints around 6pm that it slows down to 3Mb download and stuff due to congestion. i guess thats why they have the limits also ^^
