But that's football.. passing, goals, grat actions a lot of more.. something as you mentioned.. dancing with ball.. that's football for me.. nothing as brutal fauls, hardcore plays.. if you want something like this you can watch rugby or american football, but soccer is about playing with ball, nothing as crushing the bodies..

I disagree, keeping the ball MUST be dangerous. Football is a contact sport.

But on serious note, in football you will always have physical contact, sometimes very nasty ones.. And well, it IS man competition, so it is impossible to weed that out.. (hell, even in chess people were fighting xddd)..

If Maradona would play in these days he would be as fast (and as strong imho)-

But the real fact is that messi never showed personality and courage llike maradona.
He just can't be a footbaal legend. only a great player, never an idol.
Football isn't just about scoring and dribbling, is to show the will and the mental hillness for victory. Is about identity and pride.. things that messi can only read on books.

Thats why I think he is better - for me.. talent is one thing, but his determination, patience and purposefulness makes him better for me, than Messi.. An idol simply is someone whom other look up to.
Imo Messi is as big an idol as Maradona or CR7 are.
Maradona stood out cause the rest was underdevelopped and heaps less talented.
CR7 stands out cause he has lots of talent AND works very hard for it.
Ronaldo does things other players do aswel, but what makes him 1 of the best is that he excells in sooo many things. Fast, strong, athletic, dribbling, hard shooting, heading, accurate shooting, long distance shooting, free kicks and passing.
Messi stands out for his extreme talent, hard work and gentle personality.
Also he does things no other player can. And that's what makes him the best ever!

As for the rest, I don't care about 'best ever', that's not what I was responding to. I was responding to 'he was only fast' which is simply stupid, he had great ball control and knew how to dribble/scored.

PS. he was nr 1 in Brazil's golden years team. How can he not be great?
