Yeah, great job Staszek! I may be able to adjust some training plans if that makes our U21 team better. Just drop me a message if you want something specific like some tech training for defenders.
Druid's Cup U20/21

SVERIGE - SCOTLAND 1:0
( Quack 61' )
COULD BE BETTER
Our last game of my first term as coach of Scotland u21 we played against sweden. It was also the last game of the Druid's Cup.
In this match, I wanted to test a few things on the offensive because the time before the WCQ would be gone. As it turned out, we created more situations, pretty good situations, and only the lack of efficiency of our players contributed to the fact that we failed to score. What we failed to do, unfortunately, succeeded for the opponent. In the 61st minute of the match McBeth fouls the opponent a few meters in front of the penalty area. The Swedes briefly played the ball and centered from the side of the field. This strange centering bounces off the crossbar and hits the opponent straight on. In this strange way we lose a goal. Earlier (in the 37th minute) a red card was given to McGuire. All this caused us to lose the match against favored Sweden. However, the match was interesting, it showed me a few things, unfortunately my fears about McGuire were confirmed. The fact that he was given a difficult task but he had to have some rubbing off before the WCQ.

Thanks, I'm trying to put the puzzle together and think about what our players will need more. As you know me, I'll be sure to write sk@ if anything is needed :D
@Steve
Thanks for the trust and another chance to lead an interesting national team. I'm glad you look here because I know there are at least a few users who look up to the work and results :D It's motivating.
P.S. A summary of the entire season can be found on the front page. I will not start another thread to avoid cluttering your forum. I will separate the seasons with a thick line and continue the next season here

SEASON 67
Another season is beginning. I want to thank you again for giving me a chance in the next season. Especially since this is the qualifying season for the World Championships.
We have drawn the WCQ group
U21 Group C
1. Polska U21
2. Schweiz U21
3. Scotland U21
4. Canada U21
5. Daehan Minguk U21
6. Singapore U21
Polska U21
The undisputed favorite of our group, winner of the World Championship in the last two editions. Their goal is definitely to win 3 titles in a row, to go down in sokker.org history and the coach (Caballero-Negro) will want to become the only u21 coach to win the title 3 times in a row.
I don't think I need to add anything more :D
Ranking position: 1
Schweiz U21
Another favorite for qualification from our group. Switzerland is a strong team and the great coach Edson from Poland has taken charge. This is an additional complication because it is not too clear how the new coach will play. Switzerland's team is very balanced, with no major deficiencies in formations. The competition will be tough.
Ranking position: 21
Canada U21
Canadians are facing similar problems as we are. Individually they have slightly weaker players but their staff is already in command for the 5th season tomasko26. This coach coaches young players well so if he gets along well with the Canadians it may be that the players can be well balanced and then the differences in the scores will not be our advantage.
Ranking position: 68
Daehan Minguk U21
I am completely unfamiliar with the new terner of this national team. It's hard to assess the potential of this team because the last games after the age change they played 10. It is also unknown what Alfred will play. However, I think that the differences in the individual skills of the players are significantly in our favor
Ranking position: 77
Singapore U21
The weakest team in our group. I doubt that anything will change for during this season. I think there will be no surprises here. The new coach was wahyu pugar - a user active on the forum but what he can do is unknown. The potential in NT so far is not there
Ranking position: 92

U21 World Cup Qualification - GROUP C
FIRST RUN

CANADA - SCOTLAND
I admit that I feel a lot of stress before this match. We have our problems like the red card and the injury. In addition, the players are not in top form and the substitutes' bench is a bit 'short'. However, I will try to use our potential to the maximum. Keep your fingers crossed, I hope we get off to a good start in qualification.

< Disappointment >
The first qualifying match ended in a draw. 0:0 against Canada is a big disappointment in my opinion. In addition to disappointment, I feel a lot of frustration because the preparation for this match was really arduous. We faced problems with the players' form, the absence of two basic players ( red card, injury) and limitations in attack.
The players selected and the tactics set for them worked quite well. Not once did I feel a serious threat from Canada, I believe we dominated the match:
- playing in the opponent's half 64%
- ball possession 59%
- shots 15 - 3 in our favor
We were not given a goal in this match. McLeister in 36' does not take advantage of a penalty, we have a lot of shots from 5m and the strikes of these shots - nothing. Even the last action of the match should end with a goal but unfortunately we do not manage to take advantage of the situation.
However, the best thing happens in the 63' minute. MacRaith centrifuges from the side of the field, the ball goes into the penalty area where there is McLeister and the opposing defenders. Suddenly there is a whistle and a red card. I was convinced at this point that there would be a penalty kick, a red for the defender and a chance to win the match - what was my surprise when it turned out that it was our striker who had to leave the field :/.
Saturday brought a lot of surprises and sensations in NT matches, however, I very much hoped that the work done would prevent such a case with us.
The next match we play against Poland. Without the only striker ...

SCOTLAND U21- POLSKA U21 0:3

< Defeat against a favorite >
We played an elimination match against Poland. What is there to describe. Poland is the defending champion, it's several players per position, it's much better individual skills and a coach who has been following, selecting and positioning his players for several good seasons.
The 0:3 defeat became a fact. I played a little more defensively but I don't like to brick the goal and I can't. We played without our best striker, who was pausing for a red card. However, we created 2 really good situations and if we were lucky and the sokker engine we could have caused a problem.

I was a little bit surprised we played that early today!
Also I was a little surprised, I thought 8:59 would be the match.
However, that was not the most important thing. I wanted to apologize to you for the match with Korea. Something inexplicable happened. The day before, on Friday - I refined the tactics and determined the lineup. I don't know what happened that for the match against Korea, the lineup that was set for Singapore came out. So we played with a half-reserve lineup. The entire midfield line was deep reserves, to att also without a basic striker and the defense mostly reserve.
Perhaps after the lineup was set I gave backspace or something else happened. I can't explain why the settings from last week remained and not what I prepared.
This week I will try to upload the match descriptions according to the form I did here earlier

< Coach error >
I won't write too much about this match. Especially since, as I wrote above, I have no idea what happened that the lineup and tactics I set did not save.
We came out with the lineup that was prepared for Singapore. So they got chances to those who a week earlier did not get full training, did not catch in the lineup but may be needed in 3-4 seasons.
It's hard to say that the second lineup came out because a few players were more 4th or even 5th lineup. We lost 2:0, Switzerland and Poland are leaving in the table. I am very sad about this.
Only 2 wins against Switzerland give us a chance for second place. However, it is worth looking at the potential of the opponent to understand that this is a very tough task. The most noticeable will be the difference in ATT's position. Switzerland's forwards look like this:
Giacometti
solid [8] stamina hopeless [1] keeper
outstanding [12] pace adequate [6] defender
incredible [13] technique excellent [10] playmaker
average [5] passing brilliant [14] striker
Rausis
excellent [10] stamina hopeless [1] keeper
outstanding [12] pace good [7] defender
incredible [13] technique adequate [6] playmaker
solid [8] passing outstanding [12] striker
We have one real striker but he is very far from the Swiss with his skills. It won't look much better in other positions. But as I mentioned before, I don't give up, I always fight for surprises and I combine tactics to score one more goal than the opponent.

SCOTLAND U21 - SCHWEIZ U21 0:2

< Failure >
In the match against Switzerland there were no surprises. We lost the match and deservedly so. We failed to create any opportunities. The poor level of our offensive line was very evident in this match. Our attackers lost the ball very quickly (due to poor technique), perpendicular passes also did not give anything significant because the opponent's defenders quickly caught up with our ATT (poor speed) and there was no way to create shooting opportunities. There was also a lack of shots from distance (poor striker and playmaking). In the rematch we will try a little different to create some situations for ourselves.
Our defense held up bravely. Considering what ATT has Switzerland I would say that the defense played at a good level. It's a shame about the huge mistake of our goalkeeper at the second goal. He simply did not catch the rolling ball that the opponent took over.
We will play our next match against al-Jazā'ir U21. I made an appointment for the U20 match. It will not be a game for the result but a review of the cadres It is necessary to see in practice what porblems may arise in the next seasons. Work on the strikers is going on, but the level of our GKs is worrying.
The U20 players who play in the first squad and are at risk of yellow cards will also not play in this match. So there will be a lot of debuts.

Friendly U20

< Satisfactory victory >
Last week we took a rest from competing in the World Championship Qualifiers. Instead, we played a friendly match against the Algerian team. The u20 players were allowed to play in the matches so it was a kind of cadre review.
I chose the sparring match with Algeria because they play on similar notes, they have a coach who knows all the players very well so it was known that the rivalry would be interesting, without pointing to either side.
We won 2:0 which makes me very happy. Especially for me because a few previous setbacks slightly worried me. In addition, we didn't play our best U20 players because those who play in the first lineup were rested - mainly for fear of catching cards and ruling out a performance in the match against Switzerland. There were a few debuts, I checked some solutions in the ATT and how the midfield line will cope. This was the biggest unknown and I was strongly curious to see how the replacements for our stars would do.
Despite the similar notes, we managed to build a big lead, 58% of the time we played in the opponent's half and in shots we had a 15:2 advantage. This confirms that there are different, effective ideas for creating situations. Worse, unfortunately, with efficiency - we need to work on it. Nice work was done by Dempsie, who, however, caught an injury this week and will not play against Switzerland. Not good...
Debutantes:
Bart MacMutrie - 18yo, GK (Shalloe Grave)
Eusebio Cruikshank - 19yo, GK ( Celtic Marillion)
Thomas MacAdie - 19yo, MID ( SanKozaczek)
Reece MacMonies - 19yo, MID ( FC Borsuk)

< Bad day for the GK >
We are after another match in the World Cup qualifiers. Unfortunately, we failed in the rematch with Switzerland. I was aware that the opponent was much stronger - but there was a great desire to surprise and make some kind of surprise.
We entered the match with several deficiencies - first, one of the best midfielders, Ewan Milligan, could not play. Ewan could only play if he was in really high form - he would play as an attacker or a substitute for MacRaith.
Second, injuries ruled out strikers Dempsie and Kean. It's a shame, because there was a tactic prepared that took Dempsie's skills into account. Kean's absence also proved crucial because there was no one to replace MacLeister, who suffered a slight injury while still in the first half.
Worst of all, however, were the lost goals. MacVanish apparently had a poor day because he let go of a goal from about 30m and then released a pass and the ball fell under the striker's feet. This second lost goal upset me a lot because at that time the score was still giving a lot of hope. Despite the fact that the goalkeeper did really well in several situations, he lost a lot in my eyes.
The goal for the rest of the qualifiers is as follows: victories against Korea, Canada, Singapore and a match against Poland (surprise of course although these are dreams hard to fulfill). However, 3rd place in the table we must have. I hope Canada will not surprise anyone again....
