ok you have 1 million to spend on a MID and 1 million to spend on a Striker

apart from the best you can what sort of stats should you be looking for

when buying someone you DONT intend to train IE 25+ maybe even 30+

Bad time to but though as prices rocket at the start of the season, you should have bought 2 weeks ago, when it was the end of the season when the prices for these players were low.

its quite a personal choice.

If you buy those 25 yr olds they are still really expensive for what you get, i.e. you wont get much bang for your buck. However, the upside is that you can keep them playing longer, or you could sell them in a couple seasons for around the same amount (they may pick up the odd random pop, offsetting the reduced value from aging).

However, if you buy in those 30 somethings you really can get a monster player for cheap. Downside is that if you ever sell him you'll make a big loss, and if you keep him, his skills will start dropping in a season or 2.
But if you get them good enough, a skill drop or 2 shouldn't really matter that much, you've still massively improved your squad, and he'll still be better than the young 25 yr old option after a few seasons and skill drops. And why do you ever need to sell him? I've got an aging squad, but i'm kinda planning to hang onto my oldies until they die or i resign. They can always do a great job in the reserves while i bring in new players to replace them in the first squad.
