Subject: NT World Cup Qualifiers

Well, I played them last season with Indonesia and won after an enteraining game with 3-2. They look quite easy to beat if you see their players, but their defense is really tough, though Nevis should have some opportunities to send in some great crosses and thus you eliminate that great defense ;)

Yep, Ben should be good for an assist or two tomorrow, if he plays ;)

IF he plays ;)
He has to, he is in my fantasy team! :p

7-0 victory

Pretty much what i had expected, playing 3 at the back was a slight risk but i wanted to pack the midfield with our best passing players and i thought that it worked out well.

Cracker of a free kick by Lappin and the debut of 22 year old Sammy Nisbet ( who done well, Nevis better watch his place now) were just 2 of the highlights for me along with the assists from Mason.

The other games in our group are early evening kick offs with Belgium facing Peru and Latvia v El Salvador.
Round 3 see's us up against El Salvador, a Nation in only their third sokker season and second as far as their NT is concerned. In games like this i would ideally like to play a younger starting 11 mixed with some B team players but given that Peru have already knocked them for 20 in week 1 then i feel that we must too go for goals, especially as i'm expecting two very close games against Peru and GD could be crucial.

A return to form for Dale MacCaul will see him involved for the first time since the WC and a second cap for Martin Stuart should ensure chances for the strikers coming from all angles of the pitch.

An early kick off on Sunday, or a late one if you're out on Saturday :)

2.30am Sunday morning sokker time.

20-0

So we matched Peru's victory but we really should have scored more, 20 from 62 attempts compared to Peru's 20 from 46.

One more goal would have seen us climb to second place on GD but as long as we get there in the end we'll be ok.

Nice to see the assists spread out today with all our starting mids getting at least one but the best thing from this match was to come away from it with no injuries.

Up next is Latvia who so far have seen defeats by 3-1 v Japan, 9-1 v Peru and were 13-1 victors over El Salvador.

Despite losing to Japan i dont think there's much between the two sides so i'd expect another match that we should win but not as comprehensively as today's.

What is the highest ever recorded defeat in sokker? Anyone?

Dont know, maybe a question for Sokker International.
Latvia at home today and a 12.00 local time kick off.
Again, form issues see us missing a couple of players and with a double header against Peru up next in the group then one or two players on 2 yellows will sit this one out.
All replacements are from our first team squad with a couple of guys pushing for a starting place due to come on off the bench.
Hoping for a similar result to the Japan 7-0 victory.
Japan produced a mini surprise today in their match v Peru by playing a little more offensive than usual and restricting them to only a 5-1 win, this means a 5 goal win today for Scotland will see us go into second place ahead of Peru on goal difference.
Scotland 7 Latvia 0

As i said, similar to Japan :)

Too many chances being missed though, 7 goals from 36 chances today including a missed penalty, Can't understand that one considering the strikers' skills and form as opposed to the keepers.

Still other than the goal v Belgium we haven't conceded any and if we can keep that up in our next two games then we will be in a very strong position to qualify.

Peru up next and this match is massive, they will be looking for 2nd spot in the group as much as Scotland and i feel that a minimum of 4 points from our back to back matches are crucial if we hope to qualify ahead of them.

Form rises for Adam Rodgers, Paul Wilson and Austin McWilliam would really help our cause.
The usual form and injury casualties are again present for this match v Peru but we are able to field a team which will hopefully be strong enough to bring home the 3 points.
Peru sent out a surprisingly attacking side to face Belgium and i expect them to do likewise here, like i said earlier, they will be hoping to finish second in this group and will know that they need to beat us at least once to have a chance of doing so.

So, expect a very tough match with probably not much in it, hopefully our defensive record will stand strong and we can edge this 1 or 2 -0.

If anybody has any NT players who have improved recently then please sk mail me at the usual address :)

Cheers

Unlucky there reekie, considering the number of good chances we had.

Not really surprising though with the way the match engine is currently. God like goalkeeping and 90% of 1 on 1's saved seems to be the norm in a lot of games.

Peru are a good team but hopefully we can get the win next game.

Yeah, pretty much the close encounter that was expected but now having sat through it i feel it's two points dropped.

Why Nevis never squared to either of the two frontmen on 75 mins i dont know and Leiper made at least 3 breakaways for himself and squandered the lot, McDermot breaks through and fails to shoot and then the classic comedy minute at the end :)

Still, a slightly different approach in our next meeting will hopefully win us those 3 important points.

Rest week next week for the first team as our U22's take to the field against langhe's Indonesia in a friendly, that gives us a bit of time to hopefully get one or two key players back and a form rise or two in others :)
We're now at the halfway stage of the qualifying campaign so thought that i'd post a few stats.

2 Scotland 10 pts + 33 gd
