Buchanan's current owner list him within days of buying him for double the price he paid for him.

You can see now he wants 15m Euro. He was asking 14m from the first few days. At the end of all Buchanan's training, when he takes over a season to continue popping in any given skill, he might be worth that money. Owner wants to achieve that price without training him basically.

He was a top talent though, 3.25 if I recall.

(MacMartin was also a sub-4 week talent)

There should be a few goals in tomorrows encounter v El Salvador.

Like last week, we will field a few fringe players, with two players making their full team debut from the start and another two should appear later in the game providing that there are no enforced substitutions. We wont be going easy though with 6 first team regulars starting and another due to appear in the second half.

Kick off is 12.00 local time.
Scotland 16 El Salvador 1

Once again, pretty much as expected. Although we had beaten them 20-0 previously we fielded our strongest possible team then, today 6 b team players featured so a decent result.

Next week see's us in U21 action v Austria and the following week is back to qualifying duty with a match against Japan who managed to hold Belgium today to only a 3-1 loss,(although Belgium fired in 29 shots) this came on the back of only a 2-1 loss the previous week to Peru so it should be a strong Scotland side set to feature in that one.

U21's next week so if anybody has any U21's in the current squad then please send me an update so that they can be considered, if anybody has a player that they think may be good enough then please send me a sk mail and i will let you know where he stands.

Thanks
Scotland v Japan tomorrow and i'd expect a much tougher match than our previous encounter when we ran out 7-0 winners.

Japan's last two qualifying matches have seen them lose narrowly 2-1 to Peru and a very respectable 3-1 defeat at the hands of sokker's new number 1 ranked nation, Belgium.

We will be fielding as strong a team as possible but form issues are still effecting certain players who would have been in the mix and they will now miss out.

Only a point tomorrow is needed to ensure WC qualification as long as Peru fail to take anything from Belgium although Scotland will certainly be going for the win. Belgium v Peru kicks off at 11.00am UK time and our match kicks off one hour later.

great match , i think third great by Nippon :D

We lose our the best defender :( and we lose the match only 4-3 :]

thanks and good luck with Belgium :)
2008-08-30 20:45:12
Yeah, that's us qualified officially now :)

Well played Brokus, Japan were tough opponents just as i had expected.

The Japanese high back line was expected so we went for passing and pace with the offensive players today but they never really produced the plays that they were practising in training :)

Defensively, even with Duncan Henry playing slightly deeper than normal, a back 3 was probably a mistake against a team who have been progressing rather well lately, but fortunately today we got away with it.

Overall, i'm happy to take the 3 points and look forward to the WC finals next season.

What it means is that Scotland are currently occupying a second seed spot but with a defeat against Belgium and a win for any of the teams directly below us then we would end up as a 3rd seeded nation in the WC. Only a win on Saturday will see us be guaranteed at least a second seed ranking with the slight chance of a number one seed being acheived.
All will become clear Saturday evening :)

The last WC saw us enter as a number 4 seed and iirc we were the lowest ranked nation in qualifying terms and we still managed to come through and top the group so i'm not overly worried about seedings but getting a number 1 seeding would be nice :)

Anyway, it's Belgium up next and after losing their world ranked number 1 spot to Italy last week then i'm sure that they will be wanting to win it back by handing out a drubbing to Scotland and coupled with the amount of NT players that we have out this week then things aren't looking great.

Certain players will be missing due to very important club business on the Sunday and with Scotland having already qualified i'm not prepared to risk anyone who may have an important part to play in winning their team the title or avoiding /earning a playoff (Not just Scotland)
Hopefully Hellsangel will have similar problems with Belgium, if not it'll be backs to the wall time for us.
We've managed to scrape a team together and with this being an away fixture then kick off will be 11.00 local time, so plenty of time to watch before heading of to the pub to watch our big boys doing Macedonia :)
Belgium 3 Scotland 0

No big surprise, Belgium are on paper and on the field a better team than Scotland although when they went down to ten men i felt we had a chance to take something from the game.

Far too many one on ones missed although to be fair it was for both teams and Leiper putting one past the post of an empty goal didn't help either :(

Throw ins were all wrong today, in the last few games i've had the throw going slightly backwards and thought that this might be picked up on so changed it to forward throws but this just left our receiving player tightly marked each time.

Not to worry, WC here we come and it's now friendly season untill then to try out a few things.....like different strikers!

Russia up next.

Wins today for the other teams on 22 points Chile, Hungary and Serbia, coupled with USA's point means that we drop down into the fourth pot but it's not all bad as we'll be joined in there by Poland :)

A couple of surprising results actually means that Peru qualified as a best 3rd placed finisher so congrats to them. Shows how strong our group was :)
