Subject: World Cup 2014 Qualifying stage - Europe

2013-09-10 21:27:14
Well, it's weird because usually they did extremely well in the qualifiers...so I'm a bit surprised with the level of their performance.

Italy losing 0:1 to Czech Rep. doesn't surprise me at all :p.

btw. Poland has 0.017% of chances to qualify to WC from what I've read today.

Go Polska! :p
2013-09-10 21:29:23
According to this site (great site on ranking and statistics), Poland had a 2,59% chance to qualify before the Friday matches.
2013-09-10 21:31:44
Yeah, but we've drawn with Crna Gora, which hurt our chances a lot.

Actually, if we would've won [we deserved it - played much better, had more situations, didn't get a deserved penalty + red card] and if we would've beaten Moldova in previous game, then we would have a decent chance to qualify. Oh well :).

Belarus 1:0 France

now that's an interesting turn of events. I guess it will end 1:2.
2013-09-10 21:35:42
Well, now you'll (probably) have to beat both Ukraine and England to qualify. So no, Poland won't make it :p
2013-09-10 21:38:28
Well, in qualifiers for 2012 they collected 4 points against France :p
2013-09-10 21:40:27
Belgium the first team to be sure of at least European play-off spot. Who'd have thought that in a group with Croatia and Serbia?
2013-09-10 21:40:37
I wouldn't be surprised if we beat England and drawn with Ukraine

we're good at being close to win/qualify/whatever but still failing...:P
And Van Persie freeing the Dutchies.
2013-09-10 21:41:49
Who'd have thought that in a group with Croatia and Serbia?

Well Serbia is nowhere near to what they used to be...and Croatia is decent player-wise, but doesn't impress on the pitch lately

Belgium has a lot of amazing, world class players...so it's normal, imo. It wasn't normal that you played so shitty before :p.
2013-09-10 21:44:24
Serbia has really a nice team. They're not there yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did well in the next qualification. Croatia has a world class attacking side, but their defense is too poor to really get great results.
2013-09-10 21:44:38
Yeah, Serbia was pretty overrated. No more Vidic and Stankovic. They still have a decent defense, but barely average players in midfield and attack. Still nice performance by Belgium though. Looking forward to see them in Brasil.
2013-09-10 21:47:24
but barely average players in midfield and attack

Did you see the first half from Serbia-Belgium? Or the (recent) game against Croatia?
2013-09-10 21:50:04
No, but I wouldn't judge on one or two good games. They may have some talents.. but as Belgian you should know that talent alone doesn't make it to the World Cup :p

The things is that a team needs 14-15 [at least] high level players, among them at least 3-4 top level to play well, also time to make it work.

Poland has some top level players like Lewandowski, Blaszczykowski, Piszczek and some decent like Obraniak, Krychowiak, Boruc, Szczesny - but we don't function as a team...

Also, our new playmaker is 19yo Piotr Zielinski from Udinese. Great talent, but come on - 19yo, only a couple of games in Udinese? You can't expect much from him...

And we don't have a 2nd striker after Lewy - only Sobiech [first team/bench player of Hannover 96] and Milik [great talent, but only 19yo].

Plus our defence is shit, except for Piszczek. Even Glik, captain of Torino, plays horribly in the NT...
