Subject: GROUP F (ARG/BOS/NIG/IRA)
I'm so old that up to 1998 is always for me! ;) To be honest I haven't seen them play in a long time. That's why it's always such a big joy when the WC starts, to see teams all over the world, not just Real Madrid and Bayern year after year.
To be honest I haven't seen them play in a long time.
That's because you don't get them in your group every single tournament! :P
1994 group
1996 Olympic final
2002 group
2005 U-20 WC final
2008 Olympic final
2010 group
2014 group
At least we are not in the same continent :P

Well we don't get anyone in our group cause our team will never qualify to World Championships. :)

Nigeria played utter crap at the Confed Cup last year and seem to lack class overall. I don't give them much credit. I'd rather go for Bosnia as runner-up.
I watched yesterday Bosnia-Mexico (preparatory friendly, played in the USA). Bosnia won 1-0.
They impressed me well: compact team, good pressing, couple of talented midfielders with good ball control, not shy in sending people to attack, good stuff. Dzeko is crearly the center of attack, but they are clever in the way they use him too, it's not just "give it to Dzeko and see what happens", they use him to attract marks and move the central defenders out of the penalty area but send 3 or 4 guys open at the same time.
The weak point (at least from what I saw yesterday) is that if you break their pressing (as Mexico managed to do a couple of times), they are really thin in the back (they press really really up in the field), so quick strikers (the likes of Agüero, Messi) can really take them out of balance (Chicharito Hernández had 2 chances out of that).
I don't know if they will try to play the same way against Argentina (but I speculate that the reason they wanted to play against Mexico in a friendly was to get a taste of "Latin American" football, since in some respects Mexico tries to do the same thing Argentina is believe to try to make: keep control of the ball from its own side, a lot of possession, passing, look to outnumber defenders, etc.).
But if they do, we will have to really be effective when attacking and try to keep the ball away from them (and away from our defense, our weakest point, undoubtedly). If we, like México yesterday, just "play" the ball around, or move it slowly and/or hurried, they are really dangerous.
Yesterday Mexico could basically not control the ball,

It was a great game yesterday, we picked up after a unlucky own goal. We had some mistakes, but still managed to overcome Argentina, at least statistically.
Messi was really bad, we closed him down almost perfectly and although he scored a lucky goal after his teammate was offside, it was a bad match for him.

what a boring games,,, NIG-IRA, BOS-IRA, NIG-BOS, yawning all the way, Argentina also plays horrible, without Messi they would have not reach even 1/8 I guess - Bosnia could have won, too scared, Argentina sucks, they have even lost to Poland, serious football team doesn't do that :P

it was their 3rd/4th team...

true, but Poland has problems even with Lithuania B or Germany C
NIG-BOS will be a great one, especially if Nigeria draws or loses against Iran.
It will be a fast-paced and exciting game.

Bosnia deserved the equalizer, at least in the first half, not so sure about the second. We scored out of pure luck early in the game.

This is a strange concept though: Messi dribbling past the team and scoring the (eventually) winning goal is "lucky goal", to "close him down almost perfectly" and playing really bad... :P
Next thing you know, Maradona's goal in 86 will be a lucky goal :P

Thanks for the praise.
I think that it was lucky since two of our player collided and Messi got space to place a shot, even though the guy who assisted him (can't remember who) was offside when he received the ball.
If Bešić and Bičakčić hadn't collided Messi wouldn't have scored.
Looking forward to Saturday and our match against Nigeria, we should win at least by 3 goals takting everything into consideration.
Hope Argentina demolishes Iran :D

In case you don't know what i mean...
Offside situation:
Goes back but still there is signal from our players that he was offside:
If this hadn't happened there would be no goal:
But anyway, let's move on.
