then what happens if someone sets 5 subs and they wont be supported when the next game starts? will the game just drop the most recently added 2 subs?

My theory...
Your number 9 got red and your number 8 took it's place right after that! you had an order to fill number 9 by the player on number 8 when number 9 red card or no player.
Then you had an order for your number 7 (left striker) to swap with number 9, however, because he was no longer on the pitch, he took it's last position, since he never played at the initial position your number 8 played at.
So both number 8 and number 7 filled in the position of number 9...

Very probable, because number 8 changed position to previous number 9 before half break and then after half break number 7 also changed position to previous number 9 position

Sorry, perhaps I am missing something. Where did they say that there would be 5 substitutions? The latest dev update just talks about having 7 subs in the bench, nothing else. Did any dev say something else elsewhere?
