They did notify this change several seasons ago. Might not have explained exactly how it would work but the general idea was known about. The rest wasn’t too difficult to work out what was going to happen. Just didn’t know the severity or how much of an impact it was going to have

It's easier to decipher some of the rules for the fan mood in smaller communities.

Seems to be weighted heavily by your level of cash reserves vs the team average value or past seasons performance. Very heavily...

Example - i completly fail my expectations. That is why my supporters are mad, but i also have a -2 penalty for max mood for that season - even if i will win all games and be promoted they will be with 5/7 mood, not higher.

I fail the expectations, My supporters are mad-->> that is fair
-2 penalty for max mood, even if i will win all games and be promoted they will be with 5/7 mood, not higher.--> this point does not make any sense in real life but also in this game: even if i win every match, i will be losing money

Well, I get why this has been implemented. I knew I was going to suffer from it, but I accept it.

What I find a little harder to accept, is that the expectations for my team are the exact same this season, even though I was a total failure last season. They could at least change just a little bit :p Sporting achievements seems to me to have too little bearing on the expectations, which I find strange in a game which is about managing a football team...

That makes sense. You hade whole season to think about that and prevent such situatiion. Now you have to suffer whole season. Without such penalty you would win few matches and improve your supporters mood quiet fast. That wouldn't be so painfull, now it is.

Why do your fans expect you to win the championship?
Are you rich but only investing in your yacht?
2024-03-17 12:23:46
Yup, the expectations are mostly about the money on account.

The whole point of this feature is to fuck up the people who have a lot of money but don’t want to play.
2024-03-17 12:24:53
I understand and like the intention of making sokker a game that you always should play at your maximum, without money-earning periods vs. periods of success. But I also remember greg saying that fan expectation should be a feature that doesn't get much attention, and now it gets much. If we will have situations that teams play at their maximum AND suffer from a expectation punishment, it will cost motivation to stay in the game.

Haha :p The last many seasons I've had the - by far - highest value squad in my league and country, so I did in fact invest in my team. Didn't stop the fans from wanting more, I guess. I'm in the process of renovating the team right now, but there's no way I'm throwing all of my hard earned money out the window just to calm the fans. It's not long ago I lost a ridiculous amount of money because the market crashed after I invested some surplus in players. Not doing that again ;o)
2024-03-17 12:46:40
Yup, the expectations are mostly about the money on account.

Is it really the case ?

If yes, that's a good catch. But does it take into account the money invest in your team? "Farmer" teams could invest all their account money in 16y young's, it does not mean that they want to play ^^
2024-03-17 12:51:54
The people who are grinding money training youths in the lowest leagues don't rely on ticket revenue and sponsors, they are very low anyway.

This is going to hurt people who play normally but have just saved more money over the years.

They will be forced to either spend it now, creating further inflation, or go to the lower leagues until, again, they decide to spend it.
2024-03-17 12:54:41
So, you're "renovating the team", I see
= investing in your yacht and supercars :)
2024-03-17 12:54:45
you might be right
2024-03-17 12:56:42
but the best moment to spend your money would be the end of season before the new expectations are calculated
2024-03-17 13:04:12
Yeah, admittedly it's going a little slow - as with everything else I do in this game ;o) Maybe not a smart idea to sell players without buying new ones before expectations are updated :s

Still, before last season I had much less money in my account and much more money invested in the squad. No difference.
2024-03-17 13:30:37
I would guess that the expectations depend largely on money and maybe the average team/individual marks.

There are teams with a lot of money in lower leagues, but their fans don't expect a placement at the top.
Probably because of their low marks, due to them training young players.

The league position in the past season doesn't seem to be a big factor.
