Subject: »[info] Dev Diary 79: Coaches' retirements and conditiona

Nice update tbh.
Would be great if devs can add 2 more training slots. After new taxes reform there’s a lack of players on TL. I’ve seen less players listed and I guess it’s because the new system.

Adding 2 more training slots would result with even less players on TL, while everyone would look for anoher 2 decent youngster instead of selling.

The problem of "empty TL" is somewhere else. I see the main problem in youth school mechanics and this is what I really want push forward, when owners will let me (and team).

@Geston since other topic was blocked.

I am not a relatively new team. yet my finances are pretty tight. it takes time and money to build out stadium and train players, especially when starting you can't buy great trainees

I think it being closed is fine - they want the discussion here, that's okay.

I think that what would REALLY benefit the player base is this:

Geston, you've already mentioned the probability of a coach retiring the following season at age 60: 1-5% based on team results. That's helpful!
It would be really helpful if you were authorized to post similar probabilities for coaches at age 65, 70, 75, and 80.

Doing this would allow folks to really understand the situation they are now in, through no fault of their own. I have two 70 year old coaches and they are my oldest. I see this:

o For those aged 70+, it was already around 70%

and I'm thinking just how many people besides meare freaking out right now.

That's righ and that's ok.
What would the game be if every newcomer could easily organise a top coaching staff?

There are many other ways we can help new users by giving them a rod instead of a fish.

It was for age of 62, not 60, so even better, right?

I am not sure. Sokker is full of ‘mysteries’, nobody knows exactly how training is counted, etc. It makes the game beautiful and we still want players to have that space to figure things out.

What are they?

"What would the game be if every newcomer could easily organise a top coaching staff?"

I agree with this but what about the newcomers who joined the game and after 1 year of building the coaching staff and spending money and time?
My point is not whether this change is right or wrong in terms of how the game works (in fact long term I think this is a positive change) but my point is that this has a minimal effect for teams that were in the game longer and already built out their finances through training and stadium vs the teams that joined within last 1-2 years. 16 weeks may seem like a long time but I am not sure whether it is enough.

That is only what I think (so this is not what should be official taken as considered to introduce right now).
Increasing starting fanbase.
Maybe stadium a bit so you could "play" with prices and earn more having better results (fans mood).
Tutorial will come and I hope it will learn new users to "do better".
Got an idea which would help new users with youth school (instead of constant 1000€ for each place in YS, making it grow progressive, from lower price at first place to higher)

Already introduced this season: some expectations bonuses for newcommers which has influence at mood for registrations season and a full next one.

Thank you. I hope some changes in future will help to retain new users.

i feel like the recent changes are favoring old teams.

how can new teams make money?
sponsors (pocket money, growing fan base takes a long time and may be slower if the team is set up with youngsters - hard to afford grandpas at the beginning and training takes time)
stadium (pocket money until stadium is big enough which costs a lot of money and takes time)
trading (with tax this is more difficult)
training (requires coaching staff and a lot of money - now coaching staff requires even more money). From my point of view - it took 1 year to build out the training staff and 3/4 are over 70 years old. Replacing main coach also is more painful than an assistant. How hard this will hit me will depend on the probabilities I guess

I can't think of any recent changes that made it easier for new teams.

What about add 2 slots in advanced. But you can must put your academy players in 7 slots at least and the other 5 slots for players you buy :))

My challenge with current training is - if I want to train youngsters, at least one formation needs pace. to achieve good results, i need to space trainees in age. that means some are done with training pace, the rest are not.
it is a challenge to effectively train the other 2 formations (i dont train gk) especially if the trainees are not of the same age and require different skillset.

i wish one could specify skill being trained per player and not per formation

I think New Coach Hiring can be interesting for new users...

F.E., Users will be "forced" to replace their coaches more frecuently, so they will discard more coaches that don´t fit their needs and there will be more options in TL for New Users. New Users only need an Unearthly(x2/x3) and I think in TL will be more of them.

I would like that, maybe not necessarilly that 2 additional slots, but min. 5-7 trainees for adv. training originating from your own YS sounds good to me. But game-wise generally, I don't think it would be good, though.
2024-08-22 17:40:17
i am not sure this is right. the coaches that are about to retire wont end up on TL.
why would someone replace a coach before they decide to retire?
i think due to this change the TL will jump in prices because more people will need a new coach
