Subject: Fans expectations

2024-11-11 11:34:04
It is possible, but not easy to achieve because it probably also depends on opponents achievements/standings. Not exactly sure how it works but I think that if fans of 2 teams expect championship from their teams and one of them is 1st and the other one is 12th then the first team probably won't have great success because e.g. everyone has beaten that last team so it wasn't as hard as expected at the start of season.

I don’t think it Works like that, it’s more about how many points above 2nd place you are
2024-11-11 12:25:37
that's what I thought, too - maybe Geston knows more?
2024-11-11 16:56:12
Who cares? This reform is counter intuitive for users, it's already a major failure.
2024-11-11 19:09:48
but this reform needs fixes? or is better the previous way to calculate?

I dont event want to think how it is now, but I remember previous calculations made the fan mood too dependent of the previous matches. U could be the actual champion and lose the first 2 games of the season, then your fans wanted to burn it all

If you go 100%, next season expectations will be ridiculously high.
2024-11-11 23:54:53
What do you mean? The fulfilment of expectations has no direct influence on level of next season's expectations from what I know
2024-11-12 00:13:16
not entirely true.

When I promoted to ML, I had brave fight for points in season 1. I finished 5th, I think.
Next season, it was the same, because my team quality had not improved too much, and I still had low cash on hand.
Only last season did it change.

Oh, and something I was pondering on the way home:

Maybe the only problem with expectations and fan support/attendance is that the expectation is tuned to 50% "satisfied". This makes success for high expectation clubs next to impossible - not to mention, unrealistic.
Perhaps if the expectation was tuned to 75% "delighted" instead, it might not be so bad...

For example, they ask you for position 3-6.
If you get 6th place they will probably ask you again (since the goal was barely achieved)
but if you get 3rd place they will probably ask you for 2nd (due to the upward trend)
It also depends on the budget of course.

Or imagine you get 2nd place, will they ask you for 3-6 again? I don't believe it..

Previous way to calculate was at least more predictable.

Now, you can loose fans (or at least stadium attendance ) during a whole season even if your team is still in position to match the seasons’s goal (my own xp). You try to understand this non sense… Then you stop because you have no clue. Better keep it simple stupid.

As I understand, at it’s base, this reform was designed to encourage challenge. But the problem lies elsewhere: we only lose capital value by trying to be competitive, so managers will never spend their capital until they have the capital to rush top leagues. Devs are still trying to fix things in the wrong places.

Fans are a fickle bunch, I had 100% in all 3 areas, won the cup Friday. Lost my first league game on Sunday despite dominating and fan mood dropped to 68%, satisfaction from recent matches now 43%. Satisfaction for fulfilment is now 79% and I am 10 points clear at the top of the Premiership. lol
2024-11-12 08:43:40
so with old system you would have 43% fan mood and with new it's 68%, al least it's a lot better than before

as far as I know, fulfilment of previous season expectations has no direct impact on new expectations...

so if you are expected to win the Championship and you end up 10th (and nothing changes in budget, players etc., leagues stays at same level) then next season the fans will still expect you to win the Championship

that doesnt mean there is no impact
afaik, there was going to be some minor impact, or at least it was considered; whether it was applied or not - I dont know
2024-11-12 11:25:47
Even if they added that (which we don't know if they actually did) then as you said - it would have a minor impact, much much lower than ratings, or money on the account, so it wouldn't alter the expectations strongly
2024-11-12 14:27:27
The reform was to take money out of the game. That’s what it was. They’ll sell it to you as something else though.
