Subject: [idea] Champions League places

2024-03-09 19:05:29
When you started, the game was a lot more balanced.
Well no, actually it wasn't. It was 5 years old and the problems built into it had only just started surfacing. We're now 20 years in and those problems are out of control. The devs seem to have realised this, but fixing it at this stage requires big changes that they're unwilling or unable to make.

It’s not easy to change though. Basically every change that limits top teams will with time limit smaller teams as well. And most active/trading teams will always cope with limits, while new/small teams will struggle.

It’s actually quite easy to make money here, problem is that:
a. Small/new users don’t know how to do it or don’t want to do it
b. You need to struggle for first seasons before you start making money properly
c. There are no alternatives to making money other than trading (or long term training, but thats too slow for new and weak teams)

That's why I'm not advocating limits for top teams, I'm saying new clubs need more help.
I can only speak to my experience but sponsor money when I came back to this game was £22,000. That's simply not enough and it locks people out of large parts of the game. Either rework the formula or easier, simply establish a basic minimum sponsor income. I'd say £40,000 isn't unreasonable.

Yup, the starting situation is terrible. New teams should receive bigger stadiums, better/younger players, some decent starting coaches, higher fanclub etc.

Plus some sort of financial compensation for people who started during last year (100%), two years ago (75%) etc. would be a good idea since they started in worse conditions than new users would.

It's all pointless though since they have close to no money for game improvements and during last year basically nothing changed and what they announce to change next is well... close to nothing.

I always played this for the long game, and it's now way longer because I still have not won the Premiership :( but that also keeps it interesting i guess

How about scraping Junior leagues and replacing with Europa type Leagues [international leagues] for all the teams placed 2-5

Honestly, scrapping the junior games isn't a terrible idea.

Oh yeah. B league money is awful. Heck, ML sponsor money isn't all that great. It covers like half of my weekly expenses and i don't have a 70 overall team either.

I had a similar idea few years ago.

In the current Champions Cup format we have 128 teams. If we double it there will be 256 teams and we will have only one additional week. The distribution of teams per country could be like this. Example:

The first 30 nations (based on something) would have 4 teams
The next 24 nations would have 3 teams
The next 20 nations would have 2 teams
The remaining 24 nations would have 1 team

There are so many possible models of distribution where you can give more to "bigger" nations or give every country almost equal treatment. I used this scenario with a maximum of 4 teams to be similar to the actual Champions League. It could be 3 or 5.

This change will also make national leagues more interested because there will be battles for 2nd and 3rd place. More managers would be able to get this international experience, but it would still be exclusive to the best teams. Calendar wouldn't be affected with this change. The best teams will have only one additional game so it wouldn't make them earn too much money compared to the others. The competition will be stronger because 3rd teams from some countries are capable of winning it.

I don't think it makes sense with their very limited financial/time resources to create any type of content that will be available only for a VERY small percentage of users

They plan to create an international league/cup for all/almost all users and that's a better idea because more people will be included

That's worst thing they can do where will be competitive part of the game..
Imagine in real football to remove CL and all teams to play small village FC to travel every week abroad...
On top they will force teams to have extra game and tons of walk over results to occur

That's worst thing they can do where will be competitive part of the game..

how is International Cup not competitive...? it's the same idea as CC, but with guaranteed bigger number of games for everyone taking part (group stage) + available to all users, not to 1% of users

maybe CC it's fun for you because there isn't much competition in Bulgaria so you can get there many, many times, but for 99% of teams in Poland CC is something that they will never see

On top they will force teams to have extra game and tons of walk over results to occur

that's an individual choice... at the same time you can use this cup for training and then use best players in league/national cup

it would also be a good thing for countries that have 3-5 active users, they would compete against real users, have a bigger challenge etc.
2024-04-04 10:54:13
Sure. It was a good idea from devs, and they gave up along the way...

"More challenges", they said. In the end, the most profitable challenge is to coach a 16-year-old team :-)

Allow me to not agree with you
Competitiveness is when you play to win all competitions if you can

Who gets a joy if wins a cup with worst teams in the game..

Small countries can be merged.. not placed in useless competition that do not allow you to promote and go up
If that competition allows you to promote to top level only then it will make sense to me...
Just adding extra games with this amount and length of injury is foolish to do.

I agree with you that the CC should remain the ultimate goal in Sokker and it should be clearly differentiated from all other tournaments.

If they do it right, there is no problem with the CC continuing to be for the champions and the best in the game, and everyone else playing in a lower-tier tournament format.
2024-04-04 15:55:46
+1
but the game will be more competitive and interesting if we have more competition as in RL
and keep those international tournaments as friendlies ...
Best-case scenarios are optional for those who want to play in them ...

Competitiveness is when you play to win all competitions if you can

...and? you can play to win the International Cup just as people play to win Champions Cup. I don't see any difference except for the name.

Who gets a joy if wins a cup with worst teams in the game..

I'm sure small country/new/weak teams will find a lot of joy in that. You can ask the same question: who gets a joy if they win a 5th or 4th league. Many people do.

If this competition will be based on level, then the highest tier will be even stronger than Champions Cup.
Most strong teams play in Poland, sometimes there are 5 or more teams playing for 84+, yet often there is only one team in Champions Cup. If that changes in international cup, then it will actually have a higher level of competition than CC.

For comparison, there are ~20 teams playing for 80+ rating is Poland this season. Less than 10 teams achieved that level in the Champions Cup in this season.
