Gross.
Perhaps an actual reform could be that all youth have a maximum of unsatisfactory stamina.

The problem is that if you start making the min/max then the question is where will it end.
Max 2 stamina. Max 0 GK if not a GK. No high pm if high striker. Minimum x pace.
You start doing that, you will get an army of clones.

That is a little bit of a slippery slope fallacy though, isn't it?
To be clear, I probably shouldn't be posting too much today as I am just recovering from my surgery.
I guess my thought process here ( in whatever capacity it is) is that stamina is not the same as goalkeeper in ease of training. 6 stamina is basically 2 points in any other skill. Plus, wasted goalkeeper points doesn't seem like a big issue,

yeah army of clones :D ..but at least these 3 changes.
1. non gk should have more then 2 on gk..
2. def should not have striker more then 3
3. att should not have def more then 3
and stamina must be always 3 or higher.

Well stamina is indeed easier to train [and actually it shouldn't be trained anymore anyway as it gets to 11 on its own] but at the same time field players need 0 goalkeeper, so the "its harder to train" argument doesn't really make sense here.
Att with def is actually good, so no to putting a cap on that.
I think the current system is actually ok (not ideal or great). Irritating at times when it goes wrong sure but I suspect that could be better with making the other parts of the system better. I’d hate for it to be heavily cookie cut such that players must have x skills for each type of player and everyone turns out in varying degrees the same.

You could avoid this problem simply by showing the skills. That also makes the youth games slightly less pointless.

That's okay idea. Maybe not show all skills, but some of them (random one) and later few skills more if the player is training in the academy for couple weeks (longer he stays, better knowledge you get)..

If a random skill is revealed each 4 weeks, then, after 32 weeks you will know each skill. Perfect imo...

a player who stays in the center should have minimum characteristics above, depending on the number of weeks he spends in the center and depending on his talent, releasing a player with zero speed is an aberration,
i know its OP for sokker to have att with high def just to steal a ball in front of opp goal. but its more realistic..
@camus not bad idea about showing some skills after x weeks :D

Sokker lacks some consequence sometimes. For instance, to harness the linear player development model, there should be U-23, U-25, U-27 national teams here. Perhaps even twice that many.
Out of the numerous easy-to-implement suggestions I'd really like teams to be able to draft trainees from specific countries. It should be unconditional too - like a ratio to split between options. Would make the international stage more competitive.
Other than that - the possibilities are endless. Maybe individualize the growth stages: make some 20-year-olds train like 16-year-olds, especially if they just started. Seems cheap and It would subtract from the determinism a little.
Or instead of the overall talent introduce propensities for particular skills (they could change over time too, or could depend on the player's skill configuration, and your coach could help you assess if some conditions were fulfilled - these conditions could be tactical, teambuilding, or maybe passing a refereeing quiz, you name it).
Another idea would be to introduce a player quality league stratification mechanism by making players progress faster if they have teammates or opponents of (highly) similar quality rather than only too low (no challenge) or too high (insurmountable). B teams could be introduced for that purpose too.
In a similar fashion - the tactics the players set in motion - or specific aspects or their performance in the games - could take a toll on skill development. The choice of a formation line does that already, why not complicate that further.

Well it similarly doesn't make sense for it to be a soccer skill to me, since it's value actually detracts from a prospect, right? It is a gross waste of football skill
let's take a peek into the islander youth academy:
these are literally the best 11 I can keep in order to field a lineup.

oh, and tonight's crop?
Absolute rip off.

U've got a Burger and McGuire, what else do you need as a soccer manager? :P
