Subject: [U21] Sigur

Sigur [del] to All
Hi,

My name is Sigur, 29 years old and working as an engineer in electronics.
Playing sokker for about 5 years. Last season promoted to the second division of Belgium.
Creating new tactics is not a problem. Also train 2 icelandic players.

Experiance with NT
Started scoutingsystem for U-21 Belgium. In a few seasons this will help Belgium a lot.
All talented players will be known and followed.
Past 2 seasons worked as:
Allround scout for China (Small country in sokker).
Head scout midfield for Belgium.

Main Target
Because Iceland is a very small country in sokker it is necessary to find all talented players. Charlieken, who also served under Myname, will help me with this task. He is already familiar with the current players with gives me a headstart. This will be the foundation for the NT in the future.

Also winning games is a target ofcourse and trying to get a better position in the worldranking.

Myname resigns as coach, he did a great job for U21 of Iceland. I would like to continue his work.

If you have some questions, you can ask them here or by sk-mail.

Kind regards,
Sigur

You do have a great name for a coach. Sigur means Victory in Icelandic. :)

I know :)
I chose this name because I am a big fan of Sigur Ros.
It is a nice coincidence :)

Adapted my speech a little bit, not that it will help :)

Hey Sigur, you need another one who helps you out? I'm interested to get involved in something nice :p And since i'm following and trained icelandic players since long time, this could be a nice match :)

I trained Steingrímur Frostason (NT player now!), Ólafur Örn Bergsteinnsson (ex-NT player), Kristmann Sturlason (ex-U21 player), Knútur Fannason (U21 player) and now i'm training Freybjörn Yngvarsson (hoping to get him in the U21 squad, according to his juniorcoach he has great talent!).

Btw, i'm a fan of Sigur Ros (and Jonsi) but also of Rebekka Gudleifsdottir :p Maybe thats way i'm in love with icelandic players :p

My questions:

What do you expect from your first season as an U21 coach of Ísland? What are your goals for this season?

Do you have any thoughts of improving the number of users in Ísland and to make the Íslandic fora a little more active?

How well do you know the U21-level of Ísland? What kind of skills do you expect from an Íslandic U21-player? F.ex.: do you expect defenders to be double very good/excellent/formidabel/outstanding/...
Question that is very related to this one: What are your minimum requirements for your players (according to age and position)?

Do you have some scouts/assistants that are willing to help you yet? Are you willing to be an assistant/scout of the winner of this election in the case you lose?

What's your favourite type of tactic? How much defenders, winger or not, offside trap or not,...?

What opponent do you want to play in week 1? Are you planning of participating the Mini WC U21? Which kind of opponents do you want to play next season?

If you want to help, you're welcome.
You already helped iceland with training these players.
You can help me on different levels, we can discuss this later if i win the election.

I want to try finishing higher on the world ranking. It will be difficult, because you did a really great job. I know the players of China and they are better than Icelandic players. But you finished about 10 places higher.
As a NT coach of a small country it is needed to help the managers as much as possible. New Icelandic managers will recieve a welcome mail and I offer them help. The older managers are also welcome.
I also want to keep the database of Icelandic players up to date. Verifying that the players abroad recieve the training the need. If not, try to solve this problem.

Do you have any thoughts of improving the number of users in Ísland and to make the Íslandic fora a little more active?

The part of improving the number of users is very difficult. You can not force people to play this game. What I can do is helping new managers.
A little bit the same as for activity on fora. I will be active, even when there will be no reaction. I will write a preview for each game. Also after the game what was good, bad, etc...
I also want to make a plus winning game if there are enough participants from iceland, just like I did in belgium last season.

How well do you know the U21-level of Ísland? What kind of skills do you expect from an Íslandic U21-player? F.ex.: do you expect defenders to be double very good/excellent/formidabel/outstanding/...

Until now I followed iceland on the backgound since vandamme was NT coach.
I think defs will be round double outstanding, mids 4* very good - formidable skills. Strikers around triple formidable.

Minimum requirements will be low. According to the updates, requirements will become higher.
For very young players 16-18, there will be no minimum requirements. These players will be followed very close. I want an update every 2 weeks. If they have no talent, they will be removed from the DB.

Do you have some scouts/assistants that are willing to help you yet? Are you willing to be an assistant/scout of the winner of this election in the case you lose?

Charlieken already told me he will help. Frote also want to participate.
Iceland is a small country, so i will not look for extra scouts/assistants. There is no need to have 2 assistants and 10 scouts like in belgium. But if somebody wants to help, they are welcome. Just let me know. If an Icelandic manager wants to help, he is more than welcome.

If the new U21 coach wants my help, he just have to ask me. I have no problem with helping somebody else.

What's your favourite type of tactic? How much defenders, winger or not, offside trap or not,...?

My favourite tactic is playing a 451 with winger. This is the best tactic I can play with my team because I have only 1 striker.
This will not mean I will play the same tactic with Iceland. Depending on the opponent and available players, I will play different tactics.

What opponent do you want to play in week 1? Are you planning of participating the Mini WC U21? Which kind of opponents do you want to play next season?

A country like Panamá or Kypros or an easy one like for example Cameroun would be nice for a start.
If there is a Mini WC U21, i will participate but as far as I know there will be no U21 Mini WC this season. Nobody is organising this for the moment.

I will choose the opponents in function of the world ranking, so we can climb up to a better place.

I would like to extend my term as U21 coach.

The main target will be the same as last season.
The last results where really bad, this shows there is still a lot of work to do.
