How much is your bottom selling price for Yngvarsson?
2010-05-15 17:12:28
can´t tell yet:P I wouldn´t like to sell him much, cause he´s a very precious player for me:P.. his tech and pace should pop quite soon though, so he wouldn´t be cheap..:/

5. round match in world cup qualifications. Home match against Scweiz which is also big favorite in our group.

Scweiz beat Honduras 10-1 and got 75.3 average marks. We won Honduras 2-0. I think our marks at this time will be somewhere between 59-63 (because of injuries).

It will be very difficult match for us. Everything is possible, but we need perfect tactic and lot of luck. We can't beat Schweiz with attacking style, but somehow we have to find goal opportunities (freekicks, contra attacks...?).

I hope that we can challenge them and give all fans a little bit of excitement!!! ;)

Yngvarsson is getting fat:( will be difficult for him to score:/

Is it fast food or just his big appetite causing this? :)

Result: Ísland - Scweiz 0-4 (0-1)

First half our tactic seems to be working fine. Once Scweiz winger run through (from Þráinnsson's side) and made a dangerous cross - our defenders lost that ball and Sigursteinnsson was in wrong place to catch the header. Otherwise we defend well with 8 men and couple of our breakthrough passes/runs was close to succeed.

In second half opponent scored 0-2 after 5 minutes... again with the header and it seemed that our defenders were allways in big trouble with high balls. I assume our defensive line got tired and so there appeared holes and Scweiz took advantage from that.

Our attacking was quite light today and we didn't get any opportunities to score.

Plan was to use very aggressive offside trap and I am quite happy how that worked. Both wingbacks were in big role - stopping opponent's winger.

This time Ármannsson started in attack and was replaced by Yngvarsson (form has gone down recently). In my opinion first one succeeded better.

Ísland stars against Scweiz:

*** Veigar Sigursteinnsson GK (few "game savers")
** Gustav Sveinbjörnsson MID (this time in midfield, helped defenders)
* Þórir Þráinnsson DEF (first half allmost stopped opponents star winger, second half moved to other side and lost little bit from the picture)

Next our team meets Suomi (Finland) in friendly match.

First team key players will rest and again I try to find potential young players to play against Suomi (under 26).

=> So update your younger players now, thanks! (directly to NTDB or sokker mail)

Friendly: Suomi - Ísland

Form (this season): Ísland 3-0-3, Suomi 4-1-1

Friendly match against Suomi is very interesting for me... because it's my motherland and their team, manager, scouts are quite familiar.

Our opponent has plenty of quality players and their NT manager Fastpete started well with his world cup campaign. We are "underdogs" in this friendly match - just like against Sweden.

Now I would like to put our best team in lineup, but because this only a friendly match... I really need to calm down from that kind of thoughts... ;D

I have chosen many younger players, but there is also couple players older than 26 yo, because some good (enough) youngsters are in poor form and some players still needs few skill points more.

Here is our lineup and subs (changes can be made before match starts). Player ages added.

1. Thomas Bjartmannsson 22
2. William Vignirsson 27
3. Steingrímur Frostason 23
4. Jóhannes Jökulsson 24
5. Andreas Eiríksson 25
6. Valtýr Þorsteinnsson 23
7. Ólafur Þór Jóhannesson 25
8. Ingi Þór Aðalbjörnsson 26
9. Markús Númason 25
10. Even Dybdal 30
11. Mark Ármannsson 28

12. Guðmundur Freyrsson 24
13. Bjarni Victorsson 26
14. Christopher Valdimarsson 23
15. Gauti Randversson 22
16. Ívar Örn Auðunnson 26

Lineup changes before the match:

-> FC Meniskuskicker's Mark Ármannsson is replaced with Bent Thorsen (FC Kolejowa).
-> Tristan da Cunha's Valtýr Þorsteinnsson is replaced with Bjarni Victorsson (Kuajas Team).

Result: Suomi - Ísland 4-0 (2-0)

First 40 minutes went quite well and def tactics worked fine. But when you defend well (like now) it usually brings negative reflections and problems to our own attacks.

Passing in front of our own defensive line (left to right and back again...) was quite challenging (and terryfying) because our defs don't have too much tech, passing and playmaking.

I have now learned from that :) => we need more men up front (or wings/middle). Then we have better passing opportunities and less bad passes.

I was planned that Thorsen-Dybdal could steal few balls from defs, but that didn't happen. Our wingback Vignirsson had highest attack percent. He is definitely wrong man for that job...

Next weeks match is against Schweiz.

Ísland stars:
*** Steingrímur Frostason, AS Bourac DEF (future NT star for Ísland!)
** Jóhannes Jökulsson, FC Lauretown DEF (192 cm def is tough to beat with high balls)
* William Vignirsson, American Idiots DEF (allways on the ball, usually lost the ball but still one star...)

(add your own stars here =>) ;)

Group E 6. round match in world cup qualifications.

In theory - we have still small chances to qualify, but practically it's quite impossible, because we need 7 points more than Schweiz from our last 5 matches.

Third place in our group would be nice.

Injury problems ain't over yet, but it's getting better. Traustason, Haraldsson and Edvinsson are back in business!

Goalie Sigursteinsson has dropped his form, but fortunately our young 22 year old Bjartmannsson is in great shape. We have now 2 good goalies and that is a good thing.

Hard match is coming - let's see how it goes! :)

Are these predictions too short or too long? Comments?

I like them..

Btw since i'm training pace i'm ready to spot some icelandic talents so sundemo i don't what you train strikers or something else? mayby all togheter we can make iceland big
2010-06-03 19:24:04
In my club I train players in "mixed mode"... trainings changes quite often. :)

I am searching randomly icelandic players, but I try to not compete with Iceland clubs (if they want to buy a player). None bought yet.

All help is welcome and I think it's easier to get players to national team in smaller countries.

If you (Charlieken) or anyone else notices Iceland player for sale, maybe we could collect those transfer listed players (links)? (inspired by charlieken's post!)

@ this moment i have 5 icelandic players, one with already proven talent on defender...probably the best 18yo defender is i can prove his talent as well

I' was looking for a challenge so i decided to train pace en try to get as many icelanders as possible. But it would be nice if you and sigur should stay coach for a long while...
