You have me to thank there, played the defensive line too spaciously and high, but Curtis went and saved Cymru, he has ridiculously high tech and got two of your players sent off, but our striker couldn't control a thing today sadly.
At the end, both sides'll be disappionted they didn't win, but you deserved to, I expected a winger from you, played a wide defence and got punished :(

Ísland vs Latvia 3-1
Ísland ranked 60, Latvia ranked 37
Latvia started the match completly U20, while we only sent 3 youngsters in the pit. It was soon clear that we would crush Latvia, making me regret that i didn't field more U20 players...
Anyway we dominated and pushed Latvia back making it already 3-0 half time. Brought 2 more youngsters in but we couldn't score anymore although we had lots of chances. Latvia scored a deserved goal making a toast to the few supporters who came to cheer up their team in Laugardalsvöllur! :)
Next match is in the mini WC, where we face Peru. If they play at full strength with all 21 aged players I don't think we stand a chance. Lets hope my lame tactic will prove the opposite :)

Peru ranked 31, Ísland ranked 56
Can be very short on this one. Was a very close game, after 90 minutes 1-1 was the logical result. But it appeared that Ísland had the better stamina. We definitely deserved the win in extra time :) Tactic was good, but we missed Yngvarsson's playmaking skills... 3 more weeks to go, stupid injury :s Should field Elmar Sigmundsson less forward, more to the wing... need some updates! :)
In the quarter finals of the U21 mini WC we play Shqipëria. Both sides can go for the win. Maybe i'll field some more 20 y/o to give them some experience. Got one week to think about it.

Both teams played u20 with one player aged 21 y/o. Luckily I've chosen Henrik Eysteinnsson for this heavy duty: he scored a hattrick :)

Anyway, was a really close game with Ireland playing really defensive. We definitly missed our 3 best players: Hjaltson (GK), Yngvarsson (wing) and Badurson (ATT). With them I'm pretty sure we would have won... Anyway thats life! My first defeat is a fact :)
Still, my goal is to reach top 48, to be in the 3rd pot of the WC qualifications next season :) With some luck I think that this group of players can do it.
Next week we face Shiqperia again. Now we'll play U21 :)

sorry for not writing any reports anymore. main reason is that the matches ain't THAT important anymore. but still i'm trying to get Island up in the list :)
today the U20 team won vs Kenya U21. future of island doesn't look good at all, especially next year will be very hard without any decent strikers. hopefully someone can pull a great forward! :)
