Ísland team news

- Defenders low form wonders me, but other players form is good (compensates ... maybe?)
- Our best midfielder Björn Þór Edvínsson is injured :(
- Gústaf Sæmundsson from defence line is injured

Tactics

Home match starts our World cup campaign. This is most important game and that's why my tactics has to work! :) No pressure... I have decided game tactics, but let's keep that secret.

I think that both teams strenghts are quite equal - let's hope that we can put full 100% effort now!

U.A.E. - Ísland

After frustrating weekend Ísland is back on track and we are going to win this one! ;)

We have long list of scratches in defence... five of them have first squad status *.

This is a reason why young Björn Friðbjörnsson and not so very known Andreas Eiríksson are playing in defence. Bench place takes def Ómar Pálmason (28yo) who haven't played any NT games yet.

We miss also Traustason and Edvinsson who are Ísland's best midfielders. That's why I must bring Bjarkason in starting lineup.

Our opponent is very small sokker country and their marks are somewhere between 40-45. There is a possibility that their manager surrenders before match even starts... their previous match went that way.

UAE was quite weak opponent, but I am still happy how we played. We could/should score more, but our playmaking and passing was in good level.

Defending was easy -> our goalie didn't have to touch the ball... In midfield Numason, Bjarkason and Sturlaugsson handled the ball well.

4 assists, free all the time and made very good runs.

There were few players who could be one star player this time (Numason, Bjarkason...), but I wan't to bring our super-sub playmaker Arnorsson in frontline here. He played this time only 16 minutes and got 2 assists. He has now played 5 NT-games with 2 goals and 3 assists - nice stats!
