NT Friendly: Sverige - Ísland

Friendly match against Sverige with U26 players.

We have quite thinny U26-lineup and that's why I have to put all the best players in the lineup (example Hjörvarsson who plays also 1st team matches).

Tough match. Shot 7-6, but Sverige had better scoring opportunities and won 1-0. Fact is that Sverige had 10+ better avg marks and with that kind of difference it's really hard to win. I had to use defensive tactic, because I don't wan't to give games to opponent like 10-0 or something. In my opinion that tactic worked quite well, but on the second half our players got little tired.

Misr - Ísland

Last home match against Egypt was really close game. Now I hope we can win with bigger margin.

Goalie Hjaltson is injured, but otherwise we can bring our best line up on the pitch. Also player forms looks good.

Huh, what a fight that was... we controlled the game and we had plenty of good opportunities. Still Egypt got the lead and I was allready very frustrated about our finishing. Then in 77. minute we got equalizer and ten minutes later Eysteinsson scored winning goal.

Again Egypt was really hard opponent for us, but fortunately we got full 3 points.

Ísland - România

Groups toughest opponent against us and basically we need a win to maintain the chance to qualify.

Last match against Romania we lost 4-2, but second half went 2-2. That game gives us little bit hope - even they had +14 better avg.marks.

Colombia - Ísland

Against Colombia we have big injury problems. After last match we lost defenders Birgisson and Frostason. Our best striker Eysteinsson and best goalie Hjaltson are injured. Plus Hjörvarsson is injured, but he was also out from match against Romania.

So... quite many changes in starting lineup... :0

0-0 draw against Colombia was very good result, but without that first half red card we could have a win against them... :)

U26 friendly: South Africa - Ísland

U26 friendly match against South Africa is interesting in many ways. There is only one player from domestic clubs (Skytturnar's midfielder). Other thing is that we have very young team - starting lineup includes four 22yo players and only two 26yo players.

Team stars are goalie Ingþórsson and midfielder Sigmundsson.

Ísland - Īrān

Home match against Iran and we wan't to win this one - of cource!

Iran is still without points. But team isn't that bad.

We have quite good situation - only defenders are running out, but hopefully our young defs are developing quickly.

Decent 2-0 victory against Iran who played again with very defensive and clever tactic. Last round Iran played also tight game against Slovenija (Slovenija won 1-0).

In defense we had two 22 yo players after Freyr injured.

Slovenija - Ísland

Last match in qualifyings and our 4th position is secured & stable.

Slovenija needs to win this one, but we are ready to beat them.

If Colombia loses against Romania - then Slovenija has chances to qualify (if they win against us).
