What a fantastic game! In our Copa America debut, we won 5:0 against the higher-ranked Dominican Republic! We were very effective in attack (6 shots - 5 goals) and defense (our rival only made 1 missed shot). Our goalkeeper touched the ball only once in 90 minutes. As many as three of our forwards scored goals Orrason 1, Eyþórsson 2 and Hilmarsson 2. Unfortunately, in the 85th minute of the match Orrason was injured (he will be absent for 19 days and will not play against Bolivia and Uruguay). In another match of our group, Uruguay U20 drew 1-1 vs Bolivia U20. We are the group leader! In a week's time we will play against the favored Bolivia U20.

We lost in the match against the favorite Uruguay 3:0. Our opponent played more offensively. We also had a chance to score, but we were not effective. The Copa America U20 tournament is over for us, but our promotion to the 1/8 finals is a success. In a week's time we were supposed to play against Nigeria, but I made a decision to play against Česká republika, which is ranked 3rd in the world ranking. This match will be a huge challenge for us. We have never played against such a strong opponent.
8th Finals:
Uruguay U20 - Ísland U20 3:0 (shots 15-4)
We lost in the match against the favorite Uruguay 3:0. Our opponent played more offensively. We also had a chance to score, but we were not effective. On Friday evening we made a sensational draw in the match against the Czech Republic 0:0. The draw was well deserved, the match was balanced, each team could win. We played very well in defense, but again unsuccessfully in attack. However, the draw with the 3rd world ranking team is a success. We scored over 42 points in the ranking. Our talented 17yo defender Ólafur Helgi Tinnason made his debut against the Czech Republic. In a week's time we will play another strong opponent - Slovenia U21. Our rival is classified 10 places above us and will be the favorite, but we will fight for the best result.
