Subject: [U21] WC-Quali

It was the 1.july 2014...
With my girlfriend I spent two great weeks in Island. We travelled around the country. This 1. july will always be in my memory. We were in Akureyri. And I had a big problem: at this day, Switzerland played the 1/8-final at the World-Cup against Argentina. I went from restaurant to restaurant, searched a Television - but didn`t find a place to watch the match... The reason? Perhaps, that football in 2014 wasn`t so big in Island. At the end, my brother wrote sms every 5 minutes, that I knew what happens in the game - Switzerland lost...

Now everything is different: next year Island will be at the world-cup for the very-first time. What nobody thought, is reality. And of course I would find a place now to watch a world-cup-game in Akureyri :)

This little story shows, that Things can change very quickly.

Is it possible, to qualify for the WC with Island U21?
Surely not. Everybody believes. But why shouldn`t we try?

Our groupe:
Ceska Republica -> of course much stronger
Argentina -> stronger
Mexico -> stronger
Ozbekistan -> possible to beat
Marocco -> 6 points are the aim

Today against Marocco...
..we want the first win! But everything can happen. I don`t really know the team yet.
Surely we have 2-3 great players, that can decide a game.

So let`shope we start well :)
I`m looking forward.

It has always been no problem to see all games in WC so this must have been strange places you look at. Probably normal restaurant which don´t show this games.

At the end we made River-rafting at this day - and drank Brennivin. Was fun too :)

Marocco 1:2 Island
Yeeees!
Vignirsson decided the game with his second goal in the 89. minute.
We played not so bad, I think. The two teams were really similar - but we got 16 shots (Marocco only 6).

Really bad is the injury of Hjalmarsson. He played well!

Next week we will face Argentina.
They play this night, after we will know how strong they are.

Fun fact: just 3 players in our starting-eleven were 21 years old. Great future for Island :)

Mission impossible

After the first win in the first game, we need a miracle tonight.
Argentina surely is much stronger then we are.

I thought a lot about our tactic in the last days.
6 defenders? Without a striker?

I`m looking forward to the game and I wonder, if the tactic i choose, works.
So let`s hope the best :)

A nice win against UAE today. We scored 5 times and showed, that against similar teams, we can play well.

Today we play against Czech Republic. Again we have no chance... But of course we will try everything :)

At least we won 2 of our last 3 games... I believe that this season we can beat one of the big teams, also if we will need some luck.

Nice win today against Uzbekistan!

What a nice win again!
We were the "weaker" team, but we got more chances and deserved the win.

Look at the table:
1. Ceska 16
2. Argentina 16
3. Island 9
4. Uzbekistan 6
5. Mexico 4
6. Marocco 1

Next week we play against Mexico. They surely have the much bether Players. But I dream of a next win. 12 points would be crazy good...
