Subject: World Cup Qualification

2007-04-20 19:11:37
Tomorrow we have an away match against very strong USA.
USA is on 16th place in world ranking. Currently they have 352 users.
They are on eh 5th place is Group D with only 1 draw point out of three matches.
Qualification phase has been a real disaster for them for sure - USA has lost matches
against Scotland and surprisingly against Peru as well. They drawed with Turkey,
which is a big disappointment. Current result have been below they real level.

USA stats:
Rank points: 2043.92
Number of players: 31
Average form: magical
Average age: 22.3
Average value: 62 418 060 kr
Total value: 1 934 960 000 kr

Island stats:
Rank points: 853.595
Number of players: 40
Average form: magical
Average age: 20.8
Average value: 19 288 000 kr
Total value: 771 520 000 kr

Average individual marks in WCQ:
57.0 Scotland
55.6 USA
52.1 Perú
51.3 Magyarország
49.0 Türkiye
43.0 Ísland

Best players on each position

GK - Andrew Bogan - fast divine goalkeeper. He
has divine form as well, so he is like a brick wall.

DEF - Joe Bosh - Should be USA`s best defender.
At least magical+ defender.

MID - Glenn Beasley - I have his skills in my database, which are couple
months old. USA`s brain on midfield.

ATT - Lynard McLeish - a new generation striker. The biggest
threat to us.

***

It is really hard to expect anything from this match, I am not going to make any predictions.
Our team is in great form. Luckily we have no injuries. USA has some problems with injuries - one of their
best MID Brad Lochrie won`t play. Also their striker Claudio Pickens is injured.
I hope we get some chances to score and hopefully we will use them.

Good luck to us!

I will make a conclusion tomorrow, I have more time then.
This week have been pretty busy so far.
2007-04-27 10:24:21
Last week we played with USA.
We lost 3:0, but I am very proud over the result, because USA didn`t dominate
as much as I thought. They only had long distance shots out side from the penalty area, so
our full backs played very well. USA has just so much better players, especially their
strikers with high tech. But we are going better by every match, and after 2 more seasons training
we can start thinking even stealing points from strong opponents.
I know it probably seem unrealistic to some of you, but with bit weaker players
and good tactics it`s possible to do miracles. And most of our players are very young - all those under 21
players are talented and with great skills.

I think my tactics was pretty good against USA, only the fact, that they scored
all goals from 20m bothers me a lot. Next time I will try make some improvements.
Our wingers played very good, shame they do not have high passing skill, otherwise they
would be very dangerous. And our strikers must start thinking faster, we have had lot`s
of situations where our striker gets the ball in penalty area, but he thinks so long
and won´t try to shot the ball. Therefore opponent defender just takes the ball away.
2007-04-27 21:11:40
Tomorrow we will play against very strong Scotland,
who is currently number six country in Sokker rankings table. They hold 2nd place
in our group. In last round they surprisingly lost against Perù.
Scotland has good players for every position.

GK: Alexander Scotland - divine goalkeeper, who probably have very high pace
aswell. I like his name:)

DEF: The MacInnes brothers, Gary and Steven are both divine centre defenders.
It will be extremely hard to get through them.

MID: Derek James - well known scotsman in Sokker. He is fast
and with high passing. Mastermind in midfield.

ATT: Mick MacLaren - he is the one striker who`ll probably
play tomorrow. Their best striker is injured.

Tomorrow I am planning to play pretty defensive football. Haven´t played like
this before. I made a new tactics and we will see how does it work.
My aim is to get 0-0 draw and one points for use - seems impossible, but anything is possible if we as
good as we played against USA.
None of our best players are injured, all of them are in great form.
Scotland probably will use it`s "we have a dream" tactics. Also they have one important
injured player - Brent Leiper - their best striker is out.

Good luck for us!

Island vs Scotland 1:5

Match started surprisingly well for us - we got a penalty on 3rd minute and had a
chance to take a lead, but unfortunately Bjelland missed and hit a bar.
Playing against such countries we MUST use all our chances to even have a
possibility to steal some points.
I think we played very well - and you can see it from the stats. We even scored
a goal and had a chance to score some more. It seems for me that Scotland defenders
have pretty poor playmaking and therefore many shot many passes out. Next time playing
against them I hope I can use those situations.
I think tactics was pretty good, but not perfect though.
The aim of my tactics was to eliminate Scotland wingers, and our defs did
pretty good job. Next time I will try to come up with something else to surprise Scots.
The best player in our team was goalie Guðgeirsson, who saved us couple of times.

Our next match will be against Eesti - an U21 friendly.

Tomorrow will start the second round matches. We have a away match against Scotland. We played against them 2 weeks ago and lost 1:5.
I think this match was the best one we have had in this qualification phase.
You can see it from the stats we put up a great fight and even scored a goal against. Though we had at least 3-4 to score - for example we missed the penalty. My aim is to score against them again, but this it will be bit harder, because one of our best
strikers Thorsen is our for a very long time. But for our sakes probably the best defender of Scotland Gary MacInnes has a red card and will the match. I would be glad if he could play, because he is pretty stupid (lack of pm and pass probably) defender and passed many
balls out of the borders.

If anyone is interested to see how good the Scots are really, then take a look.
This monster is on TL right now.

Derek James, age 26
value: 11 132 000 kr, wage: 115 200 kr
formidable form
bookings:
formidable stamina,
outstanding pace,
formidable technique,
brilliant passing,
tragic keeper
solid defender
outstanding playmaker
solid striker

i hope island can get a better result then last time hopefully u guys can get this one closer

good luck vilpu!
2007-05-11 22:21:58
Shame we have so tough group.

I think in 1,5 seasons, when the new WC group phase will start, then Island have better chances for sure. Maybe there`s a reason in me that we haven`t got any points..dunno.
2007-05-11 22:35:27

Today I am really proud, because we played really well against such opponent.
I think we deserved at least a goal and one point. I missed Thorsen today, because as the match showed we need better strikers.
We had at least 3 great chances to score, our strikers didn`t use them as usual. Scoring has been our biggest problem in this season.
Our tactic worked perfectly today. I had a hunch before the match that Scotland could score a head goal or have a long distance goal. Because I nilled their chances to score from through passes.
This match has been the best while I have NT manager.

Todays man of the match is whole our National team. Everybody did their part very well.
