Subject: World Cup Qualification
Today we lost the U-21 friendly against Hrvatska (croatia) 0:4.
I wouldn`t say there were much better, just had more luck, than we had. Really sad the Thorsen didn´t use his super chance in the first half. We could have taken the lead.
If anyone checked the ages of our players today, then you saw, that strikers weren`t the best ones, I mean the subs - Valtýr Guðbjartsson and Mark Ármannsson are only 18 and 19 years old. In midfield we are very weak - our best U-21 mid Strurlaugsson were out due to red card. Other MIDs are not the worst ones, but they all have one problem - too damn slow. Defense is our strongest side.
Next week we`ll play against Israel U21 squad.
I haven`t decided which line-up to use.
I´ll probably use our back-up players to give some motivation to their owners.
I did the same thing a season ago aswell.
This is the right thing to do.

Conclusion of the 3rd Island NT season
This season we had a World Cup Qualification phase. Our result, only one 1 point and goal difference 5:47 was the 60th. result out of 66 teams.
I hoped more from this season, we had a very tough group though. But I don`t like apologizes. I made some faults in my first season, when I had only friendly matches. I should have played with weak teams to get more points and better ranking. But I was too "green" and didn`t think about it. Now I am more experienced than ever. And I hope, that new NT manager decides to play with weaker teams.
Island was in Group D with Scotland (Current world ranking - 11.), USA (18.),
Perù (28.), Hungary (26.), Turkey (54.)
Before the season I hoped to get at least 5 points (at least one win, hoped to get
it over Turkey). But as we now know the reality is different. We drawed only with
Turkey and deserved that points for sure.

The best matches:
- Our first match against Peru for sure. We lost it 2:4, but created enough situations to score and Peru didn`t dominate as much as expected. Peru went ahead twice 0:1 and 1:2, but we drawed in both occasions. They scored the winning goal only 20min before the end.
- 3:0 loss to USA. Why this match? Because in this match USA scored his goals only from long distance shots. Our tactic worked very well and we also had some good chances to score.
- 1:5 loss to Scotland. I really enjoyed this match. First of all, we had super chance to take a lead on minute 3. Unfortunately Bjelland missed the penalty. Secondly we had so many chances against them, we played like 2 equal teams facing each other. Thridly, we scored a goal while playing in minority.
- 1:0! loss to Scotland. Such NT scored only
one goal against us. What a match. And we our chance on the 51st minute, but no luck.
- 1:1 draw against Turkey. We got our only point in the last match of the Qualification season. Deserved point.

Worst matches:
- 0:5 loss to Turkey. This was our first match.
I really hoped we could get some points from this game. Everything went wrong.
- Matches against Hungary were weird. Lost both matches 0:4 - Expected much more.
- The worst match of the season was against Peru. We lost the match 15:1 - So stupid to use offside trap tactic. I used it because it worked really well against Norway a week before. I thought we had nothing to lose and took my chances. I got my lesson, will never use something like this again with Island NT.

Well, that`s it for now. I`ll skip this season and won´t participate in the elections.
But I ´ll promise to be back in next season. I just have so much other things to do in the Summer and sokker isn´t my first priority.
